Contract Guidance

Clear agreements. A confident start.

A nanny’s work takes place within a family’s home and involves caring for the people who matter most. Trust is essential, and clear agreements help protect that trust.

A well-considered contract supports both sides. It sets out the pay and working conditions the nanny can rely on, alongside the availability, care and duties the family can expect. It also establishes professional boundaries, how changes will be agreed and how either party can bring the arrangement to an end.

Either a parent or a nanny can book Contract Guidance. Whether you are preparing for a new role or already working together, we can help you put a tailored employment contract in place and clarify the practical details.

What we cover

  • Duties, working hours, guaranteed hours and professional boundaries.
  • Gross pay, payment arrangements and expenses.
  • Holiday, sick leave and arrangements when the family travels.
  • Privacy, confidentiality and the use of cameras in the home.
  • Travel and other requirements specific to the role.
  • Reviewing the agreement when responsibilities or circumstances change.
  • Notice periods and the process for ending employment.

Discussing these details gives both sides an opportunity to ask questions and understand their commitments before work begins. As the child’s needs or the family’s circumstances change, the agreement can be reviewed together so it continues to reflect the role.

How it works

We begin with the person who books the service - either the parent or the nanny - to understand the role, current arrangements and the points that need to be agreed.

We prepare a tailored draft, explain the wording and work through your questions and proposed changes. You can then share the draft with the other party and discuss the terms directly, returning to us for guidance and revisions as needed.

If both parties would prefer our help with the discussion, we can communicate with the parent and nanny and help work through their feedback. You can choose the approach that feels most comfortable; the other party does not have to communicate with us directly for you to use the service.

Booking this service does not mean the other party has accepted the proposed terms. Any final contract needs to be reviewed and agreed by both parent and nanny before signing.

Contract guidance is included in our permanent placement service and is also available separately.

This service provides practical contract support and does not replace independent legal advice.
